Here you will find some answers to your questions about chastity belts, predominantly steel versions. It may be obvious, but we are only talking female chastity devices here. At the end of this document you will find a list of Internet resources, where you can mail order chastity devices.
What material should I choose?
Much depends on how long and how often the device will be used. If you plan to use the device for just a few hours occasionally, a leather device will be fine. leather devices however are entirely unsuitable for more or less permanent use. For that your best option is stainless steel.
What is a chastity belt?
Broadly defined, it is any locking appliance that prevents the wearer engaging in sexual intercourse or at least makes the act difficult and embarrassing (a chastity device is kind of a solid tell tale that somebody is doing something she is not supposed to do). In general, almost all leather or latex versions of chastity devices will not make it entirely impossible to enter into sexual intercourse. They will however make it obvious that the wearer is not supposed to do so and will make it obvious – since she can not take it off – she is disobeying rules if she does anyway. Steel (metal) versions will usually make it all together either entirely impossible or at least uncomfortable for both parties to enter into intercourse.
About leather chastity devices
In general, leather chastity devices (usually a contraption made out of a waist belt en a belt that goes in between the legs, sometimes a more or less “knickers” type designs) are only fit for temporary use, because the body fluids will damage the leather and hygiene can not be guaranteed. Experience learns that anything like 24 hours is just about the maximum. Leather chastity belts have the advantage that they are less uncomfortable, because they allow for more or less normal body movement. Clip on dildos can increase the fun. The disadvantage of most designs (unless they are simple leather belt constructions) is that it is almost impossible to visit the bathroom without having to take them off.
How much do they cost?
Leather or latex versions are cheaper, usually something between 50 and 100 US dollars; knickers type designs may be more expensive. Steel versions – that will usually have to be made to measure – are a lot more expensive and may cost up to 400 dollars and more. Usually, finding the right combination between comfort and security is what makes the belt/device expensive.
How long will it take from the order to receive the belt?
This again depends on the material used. Leather versions can be obtained off the shelf from specialized erotic power exchange shops and mail order services (avoid the ones available from standard sex boutiques, they usually never really work, never fit and the price/quality ratio usually is low). Custom made belts may take something to six months, depending on the design and of course depending on the dimensions.
Is a chastity belt visible under normal clothing?
You will have to adjust your wardrobe a bit. Tight jeans will make them show, but loose fit trousers (baggy types) and somewhat loose fit and wide skirts will perfectly hide your chastity belt. It will feel like everyone can see it, especially in the beginning, but in reality you’ll have very little trouble.
Are they really safe?
There are various safety issues to consider when it comes to chastity belts.
• The material used is the number one issue. Flexible belts (leather and latex) are not very hygienic, should not be kept on for too long and kept spotlessly clean. Disinfect before and after use. Metal versions should be made out of stainless steel or surgical steel (which is what makes them expensive).
• Never interchange chastity belts between different women, to avoid infections and the possibility of transmitting sexually transmitted diseases.
• Before buying metal belts or leather belts that have metal parts (buckles and studs) make sure you do not have allergic reactions to metal (black or green stains on the skin are the best indication for that).
• An improper design (metal belts) may do serious harm to your joints. Make sure the belt does not press into the joints and is not unnecessary tight.
• Make sure the locks used (usually padlocks) are high quality and can be easily replaced by new ones. If it is has multiple locks, all locks should have the same key.
• Although it may be appealing, wearing a chastity belt day in and day out may get the wearer into trouble, for example in the event of an accident or an unexpected emergency. It is a good idea to make sure she does have a key around so it can be opened in the event of an emergency. That can – for example – be attached to a thin chain around her neck that has to be broken to release the key.
Is it okay to shower in, or will the lock(s) get rusty?
The best idea is to protect the inside mechanisms of the locks against corrosion. The simple way is to pack the lock in a plastic bag, closed with a rubber band, before stepping into the shower. Maintain the locks well and renew them regularly to avoid problems.
Is it bearable for long terms?
No chastity device is 100 percent comfortable (but then a small amount of discomfort can be fun). Leather and latex devices are unfit for anything over 24 hours. Steel versions may be kept in place for days (no one is keeping records, but the legend is someone has been in a metal chastity belt for nine months). If you are planning to use the device for longer periods (more than one day) a bit of training and getting used to it (building it up slowly) is advised.
What about personal hygiene?
Most devices will allow for a visit to the toilet, but depending on the design that may be more or less problematic. Urination usually requires a handful of toilet paper to sop the drops from the inside and it is a good idea to use the shower or a bidet to clean yourself after defecating. A hairdryer may come in handy to dry the thing after cleaning yourself.
Will I have any trouble with metal detectors at airports and discotheques?
Yes and you need to be prepared for that or leave your belt at home. It may lead to painful personal inspections and explanations.
