Markings can be a very effective way to make sure a slave remembers her position. And in fact, the same marking on a different part of the body has an entirely different impact.
Quite a few doms like to write something on their slave’s body. Such as “my property”, or “slut”, or “whip this bitch”. It is easy enough to do. Just pick up a water based marker and you are there. But – as always – there may be more to this.
A marking for example can be a very effective way to train a sub for a future tattoo or branding. By letting her – for example – wear her dom’s initial(s) on the spot where they may later be tattooed or branded, she can get used to the idea and both of you can see if what the plan is actually works out the way both of you expected it to do.
This – writing the initials – can also be an important ritual for a slave, making sure she thinks about her position and who owns her every morning, when getting dressed. Note: this has proven to be a very handy technique for those, who are currently in a long distance relationship or separated from each other for a while, for example because of work or study.
Active Play
While in active play markings such as these can enhance the situation and on play parties they can be outright practical (basically to make sure others keep their hands off a submissive – something that – unfortunately – quite a few people still have to learn the hard way).
However, there are ways to take this a few steps further. Most subs will not have al lot of problems with being labeled”bitch” or “slut” on their behind. But write it somewhere so they can see it and things become more intense – such as on her belly or breast(s).
That will point them more intensely to their situation. Words are powerful, and hearing them is one thing, but seeing and reading them is usually totally different – as in much more intense.
That is why this should be done with some care. The impact – psychological especially – may be huge, so proceed with caution.
Plus, and this may not be all that obvious at first glance, it is not only a matter of WHAT has been written, but much of it is about THE WAY it has been written. A very carefully, beautifully written word such as “slut” on the body – maybe even with a few flowers around it – is totally different from the same word, written graffiti style. In other words: the way the word has been written is usually quite characteristic for the intent. Graffiti style or just a few lines, forming the characters, say “deep humiliation”. Careful and beautiful writing signals “mild and with love and understanding”, regardless the actual text.
Arrows and other symbols can also be quite powerful, usually more than a lot of people might think.
Also, be careful with what words you use. Not everyone can handle everything, especially not seeing it.
Finally, the impact is twice or three times as intense, if the marked area has another significant connotation, such as the breasts, the genital area or – VERY POWERFUL – the forehead.
