This is a step by step example of a Shibari suspension session, with explanation. it shows how the session starts with an overture and ends with a Tóbikomi suspension position, but we’re not there yet. It starts with a romantic, slow beginning.
No, this piece of cloths is not a real gag in the sense that it will not stop any attempt to talk. But then again, that is not the intention here. The cloths works as a symbolic reminder that the Dorei is not supposed to talk during the session – at least not during this part of it. It ads a sense of vulnerablity and works at the discomfort level.
This indicates that the Dorei is probably still in training, but it also just might be possible the Nawashi just likes the vulnerable image, the cloths produces.
Notice that is not just a matter of “wrapping something around her head”. The Nawashi has a sharp eye for every detail, since his objective is to create beauty.
It is very likely the Nawashi will incorporate one or two strains of her hair in his knot. Not to inflict pain, but as an extra subtle reminder of what he can do, if he executes his power.
The end result of phase 1 of the session. The bondage is an adapted version of Emóno, with an extra rope around the waist that goes up again aside the breasts and around the neck. It has no real function, other than to instruct the Dorei to keep her head down. The use of this extra, subtle reminder is another indication this Dorei is still very much in her early stages of training.
Only the upper windings of Emóno have been used here, to allow the breasts to swing freely. It is likely the Dorei will be kept in this position for quite a while, either just to ammuse the Nawashi or to do some forms of other training, such as walking, kneeling or politeness.
At the end of the first phase of the session, the bondage will be removed. As you can see the Dorei has been ordered into the position she was in when the bondage was made. This is a small ritual some Nawashis will use to mark a clear ending between phases.
Besides, returning to the starting position creates a sense of security and a clear beginning and end.
Phase 2 and there are a lot of subtle signals here. First of all, the kimono has been restored. This is a white kimono, the last of the layers before being nude (traditional Japanese women’s clothing has no lingerie!). What this means is that it may be the Dorei has been too arroused during the first phase of the session. Hence, instead of removing clothing, the clothing is restored. A new “gag” has been used meaning that she is not yet able to keep still without some help. The bondage is a simple one with very little erotic value.
The torso bondage is again a half Emóno, the leg bondage has no specific name, but is a simple way to restain the legs and keep them together. As you can see there is a lot erotic stimulation, not done through the ropes, but by the Nawashi himself, which is – of course – a form of bonding (and praising). As you can see the Nawashi will make the Dorei turn around. This is not a coincidence. By making her turn around he will shorten the suspension rope (which will twist) and slowly tell the Dorei to stand on her toes.
We have reached the more serious Phase Three of the session. There is again a subtle indication the Nawashi is not completely satisfied with the Doreis performance so far. Her careful, traditional hairdo has been undone. This again is not a coinsidence, but done deliberately. It indicates she is a “slut” – but that doesn’t have to have a direct sexual implication. It may also be the Nawashi is dissatisfied with something else in her performance.
She has now been left tied on the floor to meditate and prepare mentally for what is to follow. No doubt at this point the Nawashi willl have told her there will be a suspension coming up.
Phase Four and not yet the final one. This is an introduction to the final stages of the session – having to stand with only little support for her body weight. The on-body bondages indicate that the Nawashi indeed was not happy with her sexual performance so now she is given a maximum-massage bondage with extra attention for the nipples, mons venus and clit (and very likely her anus as well). This can indicate two things, either she was to arroused or not arroused enough. From what has happened so far she was too arroused, so now she has to learn what arrousal realy is and will be left for quite a while in this bondage that will stimulate her but will not allow her to peak.
This is the demanding Heron position. It is very likely, especially since she appears to be a novice, she will be given some time to recuperate and maybe even bathe and care for herself before the final stages of the session start.
The final stages of the session and the Nawashi is working towards the ending suspension with another one – a rather demanding one actually. The half Emóno is back again. Observe that the suspension rope from her buttocks can slide alond the bondage rope. This will play an important part later .
The grand finale. It is likely there has been a Ya position first, before the Dorei was brought into this position.
As you can see this session – which is a good example of an average traditional suspension session – has lasted for several hours. In between phaeses there has been tea, probably a bite or two to eat (together) and the Dorei has been allowed to restore clothing, make up and hairdo at several points in between phases. This again is normal, since beauty and easthetic value are essential parts of Shibari.
