La Derriere : Helpers Part 1

BDSM play on and around the buttocks is very likely going to take quite some time and you may want to use some form of furniture, that you can tie you slave to. The couch or a chair will usually do, but for various reasons it is a lot fun to have dedicated furniture just for spanking. If you are planning to invest time and money making or buying something: invest in a bench!

A (spanking) bench is a very versatile, multipurpose piece of BDSM furniture that opens lots of possibilities for use in active play. The thing just being there is a threat in itself and aside from all sorts of butt-related play it can also be used as a Spanish Horse for example. Benches come in many shapes and sizes, they are not difficult to make and you can make them as comfortable or uncomfortable as you like. Depending on your skills, you can use either iron bars, or wood (leather covered top or not) or a combination of both. Just make sure it is stable enough because there is likely to be a lot of wriggling and fighting going on.
Design

There are a few things to bear in mind when making or buying a bench. Most of these come down to the design of it. Stability and durability is one thing, but there are a few other important things to take into account.

Attaching points – At some point (although may not always) you will want to be able to tie or cuff your slave to the bench. Make sure there are rings (not hooks) for this on each of the legs. Rings will allow you to both use rope as well as cuffs or chains, whereas hooks usually do not allow for the latter, since the slave could quite easily unhook herself from them.

Comfort

As appealing as it may seem to make the bench uncomfortable, it is probably a good idea not to do that, but instead opt for some forms of comfort. The reason for this being that buttock play may take a while and besides, a bench is an excellent instrument to put your slave on display. Obstructing the belly area and solar plexus (which is what the will be laying on) will usually quickly lead to lack of breath and nausea, both of which can ruin your actual scene or at least will take a lot of the fun out of it. Opt for a well-rounded top instead of one that has sharp edges and if you can, make sure there is some form of padded (preferably leather) upholstery.
