Stocks

Stocks come in a variety of different shapes, some of which are not much different from a pillory. The main advantage of stocks – except for some of the more outlandish designs – is that they are relatively easy to make of you have some basic woodworking skills – and that they are usually easy to store.

A substantial part of the appeal of stocks in in the fact that they have a “permanent” ring to them. When properly constructed, they are impossible to get out end – maybe more importantly, while there is usually a bit of room to move the wrists and ankles back and forth, the wood will not give way. Hence, try to fight them and you’ll soon pay a painful price.

That is also where their – minor – risk is. There a chance that trying to wiggle too wild will lead to an injury, which may be as minor as a bruise to as bad as a broken joint. Leather (patted) lining will take care of most of these risks, but it is a good idea – from the dominant point of view – to regularly make it clear to the slave – locked in stocks – that she shouldn’t try to fight them.

In every day BDSM practice stocks are mainly used as a form of spreader bar – i.e. they will keep the limbs apart and open to other forms of torment. However, you may want to take the use of stocks a few steps further and work with more aspects of the slave’s fantasy. You stand about a ten to one chance that – when locked in stocks – the slave will start to bring up mental pictures of medieval scenes in her head. Either real pictures or scenes from movies she may have seen. And the major part of medieval stock and pillory scenes is about shaming and mockery. That means that you should not be too afraid to do exactly that since – for a large part, that is what stocks are about.

To most dominants, that is not always an easy thing to do and you may very well run into a few mental barriers here. So go slow and if you cannot (yet) do it verbally, try and go for something like writing or just making the scene itself (somewhat) humiliating. You can do that in non-verbal ways, for example by placing a mirror in front of her to confront her with her own image while being tormented.

Another way is in the “silent announcement” (as in the picture). Display items that will (or at the very least may) be used on her later. This will dramatically enhance her experience as well.

Hand Stocks

Handstocks are small stocks, serving only to lock the hands.

They have the same function as (steel) handcuffs, only they have their own specific dynamics, mainly because they are a lot more restrictive.

Handstocks of course come with their own weight, they keep the hands separated and make it impossible to use both hands at the same time. If she has to perform any tasks now, she can only do so with one hand and the board will dramatically restricts her movements.

Handstocks will also instruct her to move about carefully and slowly. Not used to the dimensions of the board, she is likely to bump into things, which is what makes handstocks quite a humiliating feature. Also, they do not give way. Any attempt to wriggle will fail, but will also punish her wrists painfully and immediately.

Note that handstocks are one of the few instruments that allow her to move about and perform tasks and duties, but will make it impossible to play with herself. As a result, they work miracles as a punishment for unallowed sexual pleasures, derived from masturbation and quite a humiliating one. Keeping her aroused but unsatisfied will of course only add to the frustration.

The weight of the board will very soon become something else to negotiate. It puts a strain on the muscles and shoulders that will slowly become an increasingly painful one. As a result, as time progresses, it will (all by itself) become a painful punishment as well as a lot of other things. So let time do its work for you. Having to consider handstocks is a punishment that becomes harder and harder in various ways, as time progresses.

Double stocks

Double stocks will allow you to lock both arms and legs in one board. This compels the slave to remain in a bend-over position, which is humiliating and will soon become a strain on the back. It is not a good idea to use double stocks for whipping, but they are an excellent device for anal sex and play.
