There is a widespread misunderstanding: “erogenous zones aredirectly connected to the genital area and other primary sex-identifying features (such as the breasts)”. However, fact of the matter is that some 25 percent of the body surface (slightly more on the male body) can be identified as an erogenous zone. And the brain no doubt is the largest sex-organ.
Erogenous zones are usually best stimulated through gentle massage, but they are also very receptive to other forms of stimulation, for example pain (if you are into that), or bondage.
Female erogenous zones
In these diagrams the female erogenous zones are marked orange.
As you can see – hence the more general approach to Mind, Spirit & Body – they overlap with quite a few other “zones”, such as Chakras and Shiatsu pressure points.
Characteristic for female erogenous zones is that quite a few of them are located on the head: the scalp, the ears, cheeks, lips and eyelids.
Another specific female zone is the waist area.
Women – in general – are much more receptive to stimulation of erogenous zones, probably as a result of the fact that lovemaking in general and especially the female orgasm to a woman is much more a “whole body experience”.
Most people will agree that female sexuality – as opposed its male counterpart – is a much more holistic experience. It is probably no surprise that the main erogenous highway is centered along the spine.
Male erogenous zones
Characteristic, although usually overlooked, for the male erogenous zones are the hands, feet and knees. These are much more important to men, than they are to women.
While the head – compared to the female zones – to the male is less important, especially the hand and feet zones are more important and more receptive and sensitive.
Most men are not used to stimulation of erogenous zones and as a result they are more sensitive and should be approached with more care.
Most men for example have extremely sensitive nipples, stimulating them carefully will be nice, but it is quite easily overdone.
The lower belly area of men (below the belly button, is another often overlooked zone that is very receptive to gently erotic stimulation, for example by lightly scratching it with fingernails.
