(KOTOBU RYO-TEKUBI SHIBARI, MOMO SHIBARI & USHIRO TAKATE KOTE SHIBARI)
So far we have mainly concentrated on the simplest rope technique, predominantly explaining bondages based on simple rope. The real Japanese bondage Master however will frequently use a second technique, called the loop technique. In this case longer ropes are used and these are doubled, i.e. folding the rope in two so that you will end up with two even ends and a loop at one end. The bondage will start by circling the rope around the body or limb(s) and pulling the ends through the loop. This technique allows you to adjust the tension even better and you can now let each end “go it’s own way”, thus creating more interesting designs. In this section we will describe some of the basic loop-based bondages.
First however a word of warning. All techniques described here are more or less pro-techniques, normally used by people who have been trained in Japanese bondage. Although some of the bondages may appear to be simple, they may lead to serious injury if performed by untrained people with little experience in bondage skills. We urge you to use extreme caution when attempting to carry out any one of these maneuvers. All erotic power exchange play but especially these Japanese bondage techniques is always played at your won risk.
Binding both hands at the back of the head (Kotobu Ryo-tekubi Shibari)
This particular bondage allows for the wrists to be immobilized at the back of the head. It is a relatively simple one used to expose the sub’s armpits and breasts for free manipulation. Although simple, this is an advanced position with considerable psychological impact. She will be partially immobilized, but this partial helplessness may be of a much greater influence, compared to full immobilization. A sub bound this way can be caressed and massaged in a variety of different postures; while standing, sitting, or reclining. This position is particularly good for candlewax play on the breasts. To heighten the sense of suffering experienced by the sub while being bound in this manner, it may be appropriate to use a muzzle or a blindfold. If you are planning to use a whip while your sub is tied in this position, make sure the whip does not get entangled with the hands restrained in the back. Doing so may cause the skin to chafe or be cut.
♣ Step one: Wind the double rope around the wrists (in front of the body) onde, pull the ends through the loop, adjust the tension and wind both ends two or three times in between the wrists. Use a clove hitch to tie.
♣ Step two: With the remaining part of the rope, pull the wrists upwards and backwards the wrists, all the way to the back of the head.
♣ Step three: Wrap the remaining portion of the rope around the sub’s body, starting from the left side. Making sure the rope passes through the area directly under the breasts, wrap the rope around the body once. Tie both ends to the wirsts again.
♣ Step four:Start wrapping the remaining portions of the rope around the subject’s body again, this time above the breasts in a counter-clockwise fashion (right to left). Tie the rope ends to the wrists and your bondage is ready. If you have a long piece of rope, try making extra windings (above the breasts!!) to dispose of the extra rope or use the remaing ends to tie your sub to – for example – a post.
Tying up the buttocks (Momo shibari, or “tying up the peach”)
Momo - the peach – refers to the two bottom cheecks that can be compared to the peach. This technique to some extent is a more complicated alternative for Sukaranbo (the cherry), described in the basic bondages. Some caution is necessary in when tying up the ankles using this procedure. Momo shibari aslo makes a great support technique for other bondages.
The posture assumed by the sub in this bondage can be tiresome. The neck and the knees are especially stressed. In addition, the buttocks protrude up and outwards, leaving the genitals wide exposed for viewing (which is the objective of course). The ankles are also immobilized. This combination of genital exposure and ankle inertia can be quite humiliating. The position is based on the classic “rest” position in martial arts. Martial arts students when watching will sit on their knees with their buttocks on their feet.
♣ Step one: Have the sub sit in this position and stick out her buttocks. Bring the wrists to the area in between both ankles. Use a folded rope to tie the right wrist to the right ankle and – using the same rope – tie the left wrist to the left ankle.
♣ Step two: Wrap the rope around the area, onto which the rope has been placed twice. Pass the rope through both strands of the rope that have been wrapped about the ankle, and tie.
♣ Step three: Wrap the remainder of the rope around the thighs and ankles (or as close as you can get to them – firmly but extremely tight. Pass the rope through the U-shaped portion of the rope that you created in the previous step. This is done for aesthetics only. It has no further function. If you have any rope left you can now use your own creativity to try and create a more beautiful end result.
Tying up the subject’s wrists behind her back (Ushiro Takate Kote Shibari)
This is probably the most frequently used technique in traditional Japanese bondage. It is a both intruiging and – from a psucholigical point of view – complicated technique. The psychological complexity is in the many different emotions, this bondage brings about – one them being the fact that being tied this way pushed the breasts forward and up, which feels like even more intense then “just exposed”.
Make sure your bondage is tied secure. Should the ropes come loose unintentionally there is a serious risk of joint and muscle injury. That is a result of the tension this bondage builts up.
♣ Step one: Bring the sub’s hands together on her back, palms touching and wrap the folded rope around the hands twice, pressing them toghether, before pulling the ends through the loop. Next wrap both rope ands twice around the wirsts and tie the rope securely.
♣ Step two: Slip both ends through the legs (one end on each side of the labia) and bring them to the belly button. Now hold it there with one hand, wrap the ends around the waist with the other (not around the arms), and make on knot on the belly button.
♣ Step three: Bring the ends back to the back again – one end on either side of the body and start wrapping the ends individually around both arms – crossing over and slowly working your way upward towards the elbows. The pressure of the “net” will eventually bring the elbows together and the “net” will even the pressure.
♣ Step four: Once your have reached the elbows tie the ends. Wrap both ends around the body under the breasts (touching them), slip the ends under the loop and go back in the opposite direction around the torse, this time over the brests. Finally, make a firm knot at the back.
