Things become totally different if the temporary marking (lipstick or water based markers are handy for these) are a promise or an announcement of what is to happen later on. In other words, the sub now knows what will happen sooner or later, because it has been written on her body, but she doesn’t know when, and maybe even not exactly how.
Such invitations or promise markings can also be both handy and very intense at parties or gatherings, for example by simply writing on the body what may and may not be done to the sub, should anyone feel like doing it. It is both humiliating and exciting since the moment the sub starts to walk around, her body is a walking invitation (and a billboard) for others, for example to whip her.
Through letting her wait before it happens, the tension builds up and while she probably has a fair understanding of what is coming to her, her mind will do the work and these mindfucks will usually make what actually happens a lot more intense.
And even if it doesn’t happen and all this was just a tease, it will be a very powerful one – one she is not likely to forget.
And sometimes it can be a lot of fun NOT doing what she is expecting, either by not doing anything at all, or simply doing something different, something she didn’t expect.
The latter two methods, by the way, are also extremely efficient for slaves who try to manipulate the situation by topping from the bottom or laying out entire play scenarios.
Announcements of soon to happen sexual activity can also be extremely powerful, especially if this is something she fears, doesn’t do easily or has a problem with.
At parties however, you may want to be careful with such written markings, since they may easily lead to misunderstanding. Never write anything you do not want to actually happen to the slave, since this might very well lead to confusion and unpleasant situations, even if the marking was only meant as a humiliation or threat. Not everybody understands the specifics of the power dimensions between you and your slave.
Signs
A variation on the same theme is to hang signs or Post It notes on her body, basically for the same purpose.
What some experienced doms will do is – for example – call their slaves from work and instruct them to be naked when they come home and hang a sign around their neck with what they think should happen to them (of course if she that doesn’t meet the requirements and mood of the dom she is likely to be punished).
Alternatively of course you can hang these signs on a nipple or labia clamp if you want things to be a little more intense.
We cannot stress enough that these forms of humiliation, as any form, is not without a certain amount of risk.
It is hard to predict what the mental effects of any form of humiliation on a slave will be and hence it is something that cannot – and should not – be done without proper communication and the right motivation.
Humiliation is powerful – even the slightest, “mildest”, form is and there is no telling what the real, mental effects are.
These may spread like wildfire and the damage may have been done before the dom or the sub notices it or even recognize that, for example, a depression in fact is the result of previous sexual humiliation.
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can truly hurt me” is very, very true. Words are much more powerful than any whip or cane is and should be used with great care.
To some extend humiliation is a subtle form of brainwashing and even one scene – especially one that has gone sour – may have devastating effects.
Don’t let warnings such as these scare you away from fun play and neither let this be in the way of at least talking about your needs and desires.
Just DO be careful and responsible and don’t copy anything you see, hear or read about without proper communication and negotiation.
