Nursing is one of the most widely misunderstood forms of erotic power exchange role play. Outsiders often see it as simply “playing doctor and patient”. That does not justify the intensity of this extraordinary form of role play. Infantilism is, although rare, not entirely alien to Maledom/femsub erotic power exchange. Age play is certainly not uncommon, especially not in an erotic power exchange setting.
All these subjects have two things in common: they are often misunderstood and, more importantly, they are often associated with playing with minors. Let’s be clear – albeit maybe a bit over complete – about this: everything in this section has to do with play between consenting adults.
Like almost anything else in the world of erotic power exchange, nursing is very hard to define. It all revolves around “being in the hands of somebody else”, in this case in the hands of a dominant, “disguised” as a doctor or a nurse. That in itself makes nursing no different from any form of erotic power exchange: there is always this contrast, between dom and sub. However, nursing usually goes deeper, requires more and may very well be extremely intense.
Environment
As opposed to many other forms of power play, the environment is crucial when it comes to nursing. Nursing is psychodrama – in other words explicit role play and especially subs will be very critical. You definitely need an environment that comes close to a hospital, a semi medical environment or a child room or kindergarten, depending on the type of nursing you are into. Clothing – a nurses uniform for example – and attributes also are important factors. Most of this comes down to details and details often are of paramount importance in this game. The main ingredients for nursing are: the “patient” being totally dependent, her uncertainty, the discomfort of the treatment and the vigor of the doctor, nurse or governess. Nursing can be a very emotional experience, especially to the sub.
As always: a minor but important warning first. Like many other play forms nursing may (but does not have to) indicate a hidden trauma. If this is the case, do not worry. Playing with it is not a problem as long as you make sure you work it out for yourself and get professional help if you feel you need to.
Well, how do you get the environment right? Creativity will help you here. Let us stick to medical nursing (i.e. doctors and or nurses involved, as well as physical “treatment”) first. A lot of all this is in the mind. To get the right “hospital scent” for example use some disinfectant. Just pour some of it in a cup and the scent will spread around the room (Lysol or old fashioned Iodine will do nicely). This alone will do half the trick, especially if your sub is blindfolded. Another main ingredient is the acting talent of the dom. The doctor or nurse should be rigorous, without any pity for the “patient” and of course “the doctors knows what is best for you”. There is nothing wrong with making your “patient” feel slightly guilty like, if you had done this or that you would not be here. There also should be a “professional distance” between the doctor/nurse and the “patient” and not everything should be explained. Fear and uncertainty, the “patient” speculating about what is going to happen next, are crucial. Try to imagine your own hidden fears, when you are in the dentists waiting room.
If you feel like it and can afford it (some of this stuff is expensive) try to get some real attributes, like bandages, scissors, maybe one of these special treatment (massage) tables, etcetera. Clothing is also very important. A nurses uniform, or something coming close to it, may be not that hard to find and masks (available in every DIY/hardware store) and of course latex gloves will do wonders as well. If you are into medical nursing, the drugstore will soon be your favorite shop to go to, offering all sorts of pills, bandages, sprays, attributes and other nice to have things. Try to get an atmosphere as “clinical” as you possibly can. It should be slightly uncomfortable and there is fair chance your bathroom may just make a great “OR” with only some minor changes. In many cases latex clothing is highly appreciated by the “patient”.
Disciplinary Nursing
In disciplinary nursing it is all about having to do things, usually physical things. The dom in this case can be a “physiotherapist” or some sort of other physical therapist. The main thing here is to make your sub do things that are good for her health, like losing weight, breathing exercises, gymnastics, aerobics or presentation improvement. Mostly it has to do with health-improvements.
As a matter of fact a lot of couples make very practical use of their power exchange relationship by integrating every day life stuff into their power exchange. Disciplinary nursing can be a great support if you want to lose weight, stop smoking, follow a diet, improve your figure or get your body in better shape. This type of role play is not that hard to do and usually does not need any special environment.
Although there is some risk in this – you need to be very certain about especially the sub’s motivation – disciplinary nursing can have great practical effects, such as weight loss and physical condition programs.
Psychiatric Nursing
Psychiatric nursing, where the sub has the role of a psychiatric patient, is the last and probably most uncommon form of nursing. There is a huge danger here and this is not a form of role play one should enter into without great consideration and care. Straitjackets and “funny farms” is what this is all about and it is very likely your sub, when into this, is extremely vulnerable and wide open to (unintended) manipulation. Low self esteem and hidden traumas are almost always behind this type of nursing. Good and open communication is a must here (it is in any other form of power exchange, but now it is of paramount importance).
