Support Bondages (AHIRO & FUTO)

Japanese bondage is almost always – as explained – a combination of different techniques. The following techniques and bondages make great “support acts” to your bondage. They are very rarely used as single bondages.

The picture shows a great example of combined bondage techniques. Layer on is an adapted version of KARADA (the body harness), conbined with AHIRO (described below). The rope going between the legs is the Japanese version of the Spanish horse (UMA). It wil constantly excite the clit with even the slightest move. This position – of balance – is extremely difficult to maintain, making this bondage extra challenging.

AHIRO (Duck): Ahiro requires a lot of flexibility and it may take a while and a lot of yoga training for your sub to be able to keep this up for longer periods of time. In AHIRO the legs are folded and tied individually. The objective is to make it impossible for the sub to crawl around and to force her to keep her legs apart by making it physiologically impossible to close them.
AHIRO requires great care when tying, because the bloodstream in the knees (as a result of folding the legs) may easily be obstructed. What you do is to fold one leg until the heel almost touches the bottom. Now wrap a rope around ankle and upper leg five to ten times (the more windings the better and wind the end around your previous windings (in between the upper leg and the ankle) several times to get the required tension and tie your ends together. Do the same thing with the other leg and you are there.

Open Lotus

This one too may require some (yoga) training. Let your sub sit down and cross her ankles in front of her. Next tie them together. Wrap a rope several times around the waist and leave one long end that is subsequently tied to the crssed ankles. You can very the length of this rope to regulate the amount of freedom (or discomfort) you want to leave your sub. You can chose anything between allowing her to sit upright or completely fold her body forward towards the ankles. It will be obvious this bondage also forces her to keep her legs wide apart.

FUTO (Envelop): FUTO is much like the Western style single glove bondage. The only difference is that the arms are completely immobilized on the back. Again this one may require some training and is usually only possible to make with very slim subs. The bondage lays a lot of tension on the shoulders and (if not built up with sufficient time and patience) may cause dislocated shoulders.

♦ Step One: Lay both arms on the back as parallel as possible and tie the wrists together, using the parallel technique. Leave sufficient space between the wrists. Next push the elbows towards eachother without using force and tie them together.

♦ Step Two: Allow for sufficient time. As time progresses the muscles will get used to this position and the bondage can be adjusted, pulling the elbows closer together. You may want to wait for a second adjustment before you finalize the bondage (in the meantime you can of course concentrate on other parts of your bondage or your scene.

♦Step Three: Tie both the elbows and the wrists to the torso (or for example to the KARADA or other body harness you now have in place) and completely immobilize the arms.

AHIRO (For Arms): Use the same technique as described for the AHIRO for the legs, folding the arms and tying them individually. This technique allows your sub to perform a limited amount of tasks with some trouble, but (and that is the furstrating aspect) makes it unable for her to free herself.

Important note: All these bondage – when being untied again – require time to untie. They all force the muscles into unfamiliar positions. Untie them limb by limb, hold the limd and very slowly help your sub to regain a more normal position to avoid muscle injury. Returning to a more normal position may sometimes be painful. Always use a new rope for every individual part of the bondage and do not use long ropes. This enables you to adjust your bondage easily and also helps you with a careful unwinding process.

Wet ropes

As we have already explained Japanese bondages require regular tightening. Experienced bondage masters will do this by using wet ropes. This however is a technique that requires skill. It should never be used on parts of the bondage – especially arms, legs, wrists and ankles – that may obstruct the bloodstream when tightened. However, it can be safely used for SHINJU, KARADA and SUKARANBO.

If you like to use this technique you need to use hemp and make your ropes wet. Do not entirely soak them in water but spray them. The ropes should be damp, not wet, to avoid the ropes becoming to tight. As the hemp dries it shrinks and thus tightens the bondage slowly and automatically. If you are using cotton ropes you can use this technique by making the ropes wet after the bondage has been but in place. Cotton shrinks as it get wet.

Wet sheets

A non-rope Japanese mummification is done with wet sheets. Wrap your sub in wet sheets and pull them tight. As the sheets dry they wil shrink and the mummification will become even tighter. By using a har dryer you can not only speed up this process, but also determine what areas you want to shrink first and thus add accents to your bondage.
