Taping

Look at any movie or TV-series with a fantasy scene in in and what do you see? Duct tape! Well, the things you do see, do not work in real life. And a lot of other things your should be very careful with

What will not work is the proverbial tape over the mouth as a form of gag. That is symbolic, but in real life, the tape comes off in no time (which is quite painful) and it certainly will not stop any attempt to make a sound. The muffled noises you hear in movies are nothing else but good action.

In pictures the skin is rubbed with Vaseline. prior to taping. This is done to protect the skin and the Vaseline itself will largely work as the adhesive, not the glue on the tape. If you plan to use duct tape as a restraint, best use it over clothing. It is not a good idea to use it directly on the skin. First of all the removal process is very, very painful and there may (and very likely will) be allergic reactions to the glue, which is almost always an industrial one – i.e. unfit for use on humans.

Another way to deal with that problem is to wrap the body parts-to-be-taped in Saran wrap or another household foil first, prior to applying the tape, so the skin is covered and the removal will be easy. Have scissors available to remove the tape (for tape you can use bandage scissors – these are NOT suitable as a safety device for other bondages).

Also, be aware that is you tape someONE to someTHING you may leave glue residue on whatever it was you taped her too. Duct tape may damage leather upholstery of furniture and removing glue residue may turn out to be pretty difficult.

Finally, when you use tape, use it generously and make a lot of windings. Duct tape isn’t very forgiving in the sense that it will not give in and the sides may cut into the flesh painfully. The more windings, the more even the pressure.
